Payment
| To reserve | The reservation amount stated on your quote, payable on receipt |
| Balance | Due 30 days before departure |
| Booking inside 30 days | Full payment at the time of booking |
| How to pay | A direct payment link, or bank wire transfer on request |
Your dates are not held until the reservation amount is received. Because we run only twelve expeditions a year and never more than two in a month, a date that is taken is genuinely gone.
Cancellation
Cancel 90 or more days before departure and you are refunded in full. Inside 90 days there is no refund.
| Written notice received | Refund |
|---|---|
| 90 days or more before departure | Full refund less transaction fees |
| Fewer than 90 days before departure | No refund flat — there is no sliding scale |
These are small hosted expeditions committed far in advance. Guides are booked, camps are provisioned, domestic flights and hotels are held, and the community's calendar is set around your dates. Inside three months a released place cannot realistically be filled, and the costs have already been committed.
This is deliberately different from our sister brand, Travel the Amazon, whose eco-expeditions run on a graduated 60-day ladder. The two policies are not interchangeable — this one applies to every Cast of the Wild fishing expedition.
Insurance
Travel insurance is highly recommended, not required. Given the no-refund window above, cancellation cover is the part that matters most. It should also cover medical care, emergency evacuation and adventure activities. Buy it when you book, not later — most policies will not cover a cancellation reason that already existed when the policy was issued.
Who this trip is for
We would rather you decide honestly now than discover it on day five. This is a genuinely remote expedition and it is not right for everyone.
- Reaching the lodge takes a domestic flight, a two-hour road transfer and roughly five hours by motorised canoe. The fishing grounds are further still.
- Days are long, hot and humid, largely in an open canoe.
- There is no phone signal on the territory. There is WiFi at the lodge and the camps, on generator hours.
- The nearest hospital is a full day away. Evacuation is possible but slow, and that is a real consideration if you have a significant medical condition.
- Fishing is slow by design. Expect nought to two bites a day, and expect to lose most of the fish you hook. This is not a numbers fishery.
- All fishing is 100% catch and release. Your guide's authority on handling is binding, and the fish's survival comes ahead of the photograph.
We do not guarantee a catch. Nobody honestly can. Wild fish, water levels and weather do not keep appointments, and any operator who promises otherwise is selling you something they cannot deliver.
What we do commit to: guides who know where the fish live, gear that will not fail you, and a reply from a human within 72 hours of your enquiry.
Before you travel
Every guest completes two documents before departure — a health declaration and a waiver of liability. Both are signed on your own device and sent directly to us. You will also receive an expedition packet with the packing list, tackle guidance and the safety briefing.
Entry requirements, vaccinations and malaria prophylaxis change and depend on your nationality and your medical history. We are not qualified to give medical advice: please confirm current requirements with a travel-medicine clinic and with the official sources for your country.
Questions before you commit?
Ask them. Francis reads every enquiry personally and answers within 72 hours — usually much sooner, unless he is deep in the territory.
